Last Updated: November 7, 2012
On September 10th 2012, Dr.Qing Li was interviewed on TV Tokyo about the effects of forest bathing in Japan.
Dr.Li is an Associate Professor in the Department of Hygiene and Public Health at Nippon Medical School.
In the program, Dr.Li introduced his research on Forest Medicine and reported the following benefits of forest bathing on human immune function.
1. A forest bathing trip increases human natural killer cell activity, the number of NK cells and the intracellular anti-cancer proteins such as perforin, granzyme and granulysin.
2. The above effects last for 30 days after the trip. The important finding is that visiting a forest, rather than a city area, increases NK activity and the intracellular levels of anti-cancer proteins.
3. This is very important from the perspective of preventive medicine.
